O.C. celebrates Fashions Night Out - OC Metro

It started in New York right after the economy crashed and it was to really get the consumer to think about shopping again and embrace shopping in a very exciting and fun way, said Debra Gunn Downing, executive director at South Coast Plaza. I think it has caught on in a phenomenal way. The consumer has responded to the night. It brings out people to shop and for the social part of it as well.
Celebrity stylist Melis Kuris will kick off the Fashion Islands event at 5 p.m. with a fall fashion presentation alongside L.A. Cofidential Editor-in-Chief Sari Anne Tuschman. The duo will introduce the winner of Fashion Islands styling contest. More than 40 of the retail destination's stores will host in-store events including Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom.
Were excited to host Fashions Night Out for a third year. The night is an international celebration of fashion and shopping and Fashion Island welcomes thousands of shoppers to enjoy fall fashion shows, in-store events and promotions, entertainment and more, said Laura Davis, Senior Marketing Director, Regional Centers. [We] expect a great turnout to see celebrity stylist Melis Kuris and take advantage of the special offers and festivities taking place throughout Fashion Island.
South Coast Plazas events will kick off at 6 p.m. with a red carpet step-and-repeat photo moment, which guests can upload to Facebook and Twitter. More than 100 boutiques and restaurant will particpate in the malls event including J. Crew, Michael Kors and Tiffany & Co.
This is our second year participating in Fashions Night Out. This year we have enhanced our program and greatly increased the number of stores participating, said Gunn Downing. We are participating because it has become an international initiative and it has a great deal of consumer excitement.
