Foster-care children will model school fashions - Tallahassee Democrat
Fifteen children in need of permanent homes will serve as models in a back-to-school fashion show. Each child has been paired with a local celebrity who has shopped with them for runway outfits and through this process become a new friend. The night of the fashion show will be a special event where the children and their new celebrity friend strut the runway in hopes of educating the community about the needs of children in foster care. The fashion show will be lined with pictures of children available for adoption through the Heart Gallery of North Florida.
The event will take place today. A reception will be at 6:30 p.m. and the fashion show will be at 7:30. In lieu of an entrance fee, Goodwill will be collecting donations of gently used items at the door.
It will be at Goodwood Museum Carriage House, 1600 Miccosukee Road.
The event will help raise awareness about local children who need permanent homes. On any given day in Florida, there are more than 850 children in Florida's foster care system waiting for adoption. These children are of all ages, races and ethnic backgrounds. Many of them have emotional and physical needs, and all of them dream of having a family.
Attendance will show your support and encouragement for these students to start their school year off ready with the supplies and clothes they need and confidence to do their best.
